Evolution Mining proud to support the local community.

Evolution Mining’s Red Lake Operations is situated in one of the highest-grade Archean gold camps in Canada, on the traditional lands of the Wabauskang and Lac Seul First Nation.

With mining at Red Lake dating back almost 85 years, it’s a fundamental part of Red Lake’s history and Evolution Mining is proud to be leading the operations into the next decade.

Acquired by Evolution Mining in April 2020, an operational transformation plan is underway to restore Red Lake to a premier Canadian gold mine with a 15+ year mine life targeting 200,000 ounces per annum and expansion, once justified.

With a focus on safe and sustainable operation, whether on the surface, in the community or deep underground, Evolution Mining is committed to creating measurable value for our stakeholders through safe, reliable, low-cost gold production in an environmentally and socially responsible way.

This is reflected in our approach and performance in health and safety, environmental stewardship, communities, cultural heritage, innovation, and our people.

Health and Safety

The health, safety and wellbeing of our people is our priority. We have a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture and our Red Lake Operations is focused on material and critical risk management, increased reporting, incident review and learning.

Environment

We strive to deliver best practice and build trust by understanding expectations and working closely with the communities that neighbour our operations. By focusing on enhancing environmental stewardship in line with our Net Zero Commitment and Sustainability Principles, we can confidently implement our sustainability performance standards and life of mine environmental management plans across our Red Lake Operations.

Community

With more than 900 locals employed at our Red Lake Operations, Evolution Mining is proud to provide long-socioeconomic benefits to the wider community through employment, training, business opportunities and social investment.

Our social licence to operate relies on the support of local communities and is core to our operational performance and outcomes. We aim to foster strong and trusting relationships with our First Nations Partners to enable the ongoing protection of their cultural heritage, while supporting the delivery of their other long-term objectives.

Evolution Mining is located in Treaty 3 territory, home to both the Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nations. We are committed to strengthening our relationship with our First Nations partners as we partner together on a path of mutual respect. We have Collaboration Agreements with Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nations, where we work in partnership to improve outcomes in employment, training and business opportunities.

In the wider community, we partner with a range of local organisations and businesses and prioritise local procurement, local employment opportunities and the facilitation of local training opportunities.

Our social investment strategy focuses on providing long-term outcomes in skills, education and training, health and wellbeing, and community resilience. We contribute to an array of local festivals, events and sports activities and programs to help Red Lake and surrounding communities remain vibrant and enjoyable, where people want to live, work and play.

As part of our community support, we operate the Balmertown Recreation Centre, which includes a swimming pool, bowling, curling rink, fitness centre and gymnastics. This enables many of our people to keep fit and healthy, while providing a fabulous facility for the community to come together for a range of sporting events and activities, in addition to day-to-day exercise and fitness purposes.

It's an exciting time at our Red Lake Operations, and we are proud to be part of the Red Lake community – now and well into the future.

We welcome you to the communities of Red Lake, Ear Falls and surrounding areas and hope you enjoy your stay in one of the most stunning regions in Canada.
